Upheal is a whole practice system for mental health clinicians rather than a scribe bolted onto one. Progress notes generate in under sixty seconds from 30-plus templates, treatment plans build from session data, and around them sit scheduling, intake forms, a client portal, secure messaging, HIPAA-compliant telehealth, payments and insurance billing with eligibility checks.
Therapy documentation is a particularly good fit for this and a particularly sensitive one. Notes are required, time-consuming and written after hours, and a compliance checker catching a missing element before submission is worth real money to a solo practitioner. It also means the most private conversations people have are being processed, which is a decision each clinician makes for their clients.
Pricing is unusually clear: a free plan with unlimited notes and telehealth, then $1 a session capped at $69 a month, with card processing at 2.9 percent plus $0.30. 70,000 providers are claimed. Per-session pricing is unpredictable for a busy practice until the cap, generated notes are the clinician’s legal record whoever drafted them, and an all-in-one EHR is a hard system to leave.
