Grok Build, launched by xAI on July 8, 2026 alongside Grok 4.5, is a dedicated coding agent and command-line interface for professional software engineering, a distinct product from Grok Imagine, also covered in this directory, and xAI's direct entry into the coding-agent space already occupied by Claude Code and Codex.
It works from the terminal, taking natural-language instructions to generate code and complete programming and automation tasks, and recent updates have added richer usage and cost tracking, voice mode for dictating prompts directly to coding agents, improved transcript editing and scrollback, and smoother agent and MCP handling. Grok 4.5 also runs inside Cursor on all plans, giving the same model access outside xAI's own client.
Grok Build is included for SuperGrok and X Premium Plus subscribers rather than sold as a separate product. For a developer already paying for SuperGrok or X Premium Plus who wants a terminal-first coding agent bundled into that subscription, rather than a separate tool to adopt, Grok Build's inclusion in xAI's existing subscriptions addresses that directly.
