TranSmart is Tencent’s interactive machine translation system. Instead of producing one automatic translation, it suggests completions as you type, so you stay in control of the wording while the AI speeds up the work. It is aimed at translators, students, researchers and professionals who work across languages.
In TranSmart, you type a few characters and the system completes the word (word-level autocompletion), or proposes the rest of the sentence in whatever order you prefer to edit (sentence-level autocompletion). Translation Memory reuses sentences you have already translated and corrected, so similar mistakes are not repeated. A bilingual cross-reference display shows the translation next to the original text, which helps with study and review. The tool also translates selected text and full webpages in several display modes.
TranSmart suits people who want more control than a paste-and-translate tool offers, such as translators who post-edit and researchers who check wording closely. The trade-off is a steeper learning curve, and much of the documentation is in Chinese.
