Napkin AI is a visual storytelling tool that converts plain text into diagrams, flowcharts, scenes, and other graphics. Users paste in an existing paragraph or outline, and Napkin suggests multiple visual representations that can be swapped and restyled without needing design skill.
The company was founded by former Google employees Pramod Sharma and Jerome Scholler and is headquartered in Los Altos, California. Napkin emerged from stealth after raising 10 million dollars from investors including Accel and CRV, aiming to help business teams communicate ideas more visually.
Core features include a growing library of icon sets, custom brand styles, and support for importing files like PowerPoint, Word, PDF, and Markdown documents. Real time editing lets multiple teammates work on the same visual simultaneously.
Napkin runs on a credit based system, with the free plan including 500 AI credits per week and paid plans offering more monthly credits along with export formats like SVG and PPT, custom fonts, and removal of Napkin branding.
