Avaturn generates a realistic 3D avatar from a single selfie, built for game studios, XR developers, and creators who need player avatars without a manual 3D-modeling pipeline. The San Francisco company, originally launched as in3D, was founded in 2019 and has grown to 11-50 employees.
A user uploads a photo and Avaturn's generative model produces a 3D avatar with over 10,000 customization combinations across body types, hairstyles, clothing, and accessories, exportable into Blender, Unity, Unreal Engine, Maya, or Cinema4D with a standard humanoid rig, ARKit blendshapes, and Mixamo-compatible animation support. A newer product, Avaturn Live, extends the same avatar system into real-time animated avatars for streaming and virtual presence use cases.
Game studios and app developers integrating avatars at scale are the paying customers, while individual users can create and preview an avatar for free on the consumer-facing site. The developer PRO plan runs $800/month for up to 1,000 avatars (plus $0.15 per additional avatar) with API/SDK access and custom branding; Enterprise pricing covers dedicated servers and full-body scanning for larger deployments.
