Parky.AI is a mobile app that interprets parking signs from a photo and explains the parking rules in plain language. It was built by Ateliers Underlabs Inc., a Montreal app development agency, and debuted on the Apple App Store in May 2023 after its CTO received a parking ticket caused by confusing local signage.
Users photograph one or more parking signs and the app reads the posted restrictions, accounting for directional arrows and overlapping signs, to return a yes, no, or not-sure answer along with the specific time restrictions or conditions that apply. The app works across 85 languages and is tuned for parking regulations in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia, with the company citing an 83 percent accuracy rate that improves through user feedback.
Parky.AI suits drivers in unfamiliar cities who want a faster read on confusing signage than parsing the text themselves, though the company is explicit that results should be double-checked against the actual signs. The app is available on iOS and Android with a free trial period before an in-app subscription applies; it does not collect personal data or location history.
