Drivetrain is financial planning and analysis for teams that have outgrown spreadsheets. It runs several named agents — scenario, modelling, formula and reporting — that build and update financial models, handles data cleaning, reconciliation, anomaly detection and variance explanation, and provides department-scoped views with budget templates and approval workflows. More than 800 connectors cover ERPs, CRMs, HRIS systems and databases, and MCP integration lets Claude, ChatGPT and similar reach permission-controlled financial data. Drivetrain AI, Inc. is headquartered in San Francisco with offices in New York, Toronto and Bengaluru.
**Traceability is the word that matters** in this category and the reason this rates where it does. A forecast a CFO cannot explain to a board is not a forecast, and the standard failure of automated financial modelling is producing a defensible-looking number with no auditable path back to the inputs. Agents that maintain that path while they work are solving the actual constraint. Permission-controlled MCP access is the same instinct applied to AI: finance data is the most access-controlled data in a company, and exposing it to an assistant without preserving those controls is how a pilot becomes an incident.
Two things to weigh. FP&A platforms are only as good as the systems feeding them, and 800 connectors does not fix an ERP where cost centres are inconsistently coded — the data cleaning here reduces that work rather than removing it. And pricing is demo-only, which is standard for the segment and still means no comparison without a sales conversation.
