Overview

iRCopilot is a lightweight Windows app that sits alongside iRacing and reads live telemetry, letting a driver hold a push-to-talk binding and ask about pace, gaps, fuel, weather, incidents or strategy mid-session and get a short, radio-style spoken answer without alt-tabbing or squinting at an overlay. It keeps session memory across the stint, so a follow-up question like whether a car behind is catching up gets an answer informed by the last several laps rather than only the current moment, and it supports asking in Spanish, English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and other languages with the same engineer responding in kind. Built solo by an iRacing driver rather than a company, and not affiliated with iRacing.com Motorsport Simulations, the project has a public changelog showing real, dated development through March 2026.

At the time of this review, iRCopilot’s own site displays a notice that the project is paused for maintenance, with subscriptions and downloads temporarily unavailable and its planned Unlimited-tier price still listed as “to be announced” — a driver interested in trying it should check the site directly for current availability before expecting an immediate download. As a voice assistant reading live telemetry, its answers are only as accurate as the telemetry data iRacing itself exposes in a given session.

A free tier (when available) includes 50 engineer voice calls per week with no card required, resetting every Monday. A planned Unlimited tier would remove the weekly call cap for a single subscription with hosted AI included, at a price yet to be announced; a bring-your-own-OpenAI-key option is also planned for unlimited use without a subscription, billed directly by the user’s own API provider.

Pros & cons

Pros

  • A free weekly allowance with no card required when the service is active
  • Hands-free operation suited to actually driving rather than reading an overlay
  • Multi-language support is unusually broad for a niche sim-racing tool

Cons

  • Currently paused for maintenance, with downloads and subscriptions unavailable
  • Windows and iRacing only; no support for other platforms or sims
  • A solo project's long-term availability depends on one developer's continued work
