Plivo is a cloud communications company that has rebuilt its product around voice AI agents. It supplies the phone network, through SIP trunking and audio streaming in more than 150 countries, and the tools to put an AI agent on a call. SMS, WhatsApp and chat are available as further channels. Its site shows customer logos including Meta, Adobe and Uber.
There are two ways to build. The no-code AI Agent studio lets a team describe an agent in a prompt, then test and deploy it across channels. Programmable AI Agents are for developers, who can bring the LiveKit or Pipecat frameworks or build directly on Plivo’s voice APIs, with a command-line tool for testing audio streams and diagnosing failed calls. The platform adds AI noise cancellation, turn detection with interruption handling, and automatic simulations and evaluations that feed back into the agent. Plivo quotes latency under 500 milliseconds and 99.99 percent uptime, and lists HIPAA, GDPR, SOC 2 and PCI DSS compliance.
Pricing is per minute. On the US site AI Agents cost $0.03 a minute, excluding telephony, and SIP with audio streaming starts at $0.0028 a minute. New accounts get $10 in free credits with no credit card.
