Aviel Intelligence, founded in 2024 by former Google and what3words operators including Peter Griffin, builds AI-generated synthetic personas it calls 'honeybots' that engage directly with scammers in real time, posing as would-be victims to extract operational intelligence on how active scam networks actually run.
That intelligence feeds directly to banks and payment service providers as a live feed of mule-account activity, capturing hundreds of active fraudulent bank accounts daily, a proactive approach that identifies scam infrastructure before it can process a much larger volume of victims.
The company launched with a £350,000 investment led by Fuel Ventures to tackle what UK press has called a 'scamdemic' of AI-assisted fraud. For a financial institution that wants intelligence on active scam networks before the fraud reaches its own customers, Aviel's honeybot approach addresses that directly.
