AI21 Studio is AI21 Labs' developer platform for building on its language models. AI21 Labs was founded in Tel Aviv in November 2017 by Yoav Shoham, Ori Goshen, and Amnon Shashua, and launched AI21 Studio in August 2021 alongside its first Jurassic-1 model.
The platform gives developers API and playground access to AI21's Jamba family, a hybrid Mamba-Transformer architecture that mixes state-space layers with attention to handle long-context tasks more efficiently than pure transformer models; Jamba ships with open weights, and context windows have reached up to 256,000 tokens in later releases. AI21 has since expanded beyond the Studio brand into Maestro, an orchestration framework for production AI agents, while continuing to operate the original Studio API console.
AI21 Studio suits developers and enterprises building applications on long-context or agentic workloads who want an alternative to the dominant model providers. New accounts get a $10 credit valid for three months; after that, pricing runs per token and varies by model, from around $0.20 per million input tokens on Jamba Mini up to $2.00 per million input tokens on Jamba Large.
