EbSynth is a video stylization tool built by Secret Weapons, a Prague-based studio founded at the end of 2018 by Šárka Sochorová and Ondřej Jamriška, who met as computer graphics researchers at the Czech Technical University in Prague. The tool's alpha version shipped in June 2019 and was presented as a technical paper at SIGGRAPH 2019.
EbSynth uses example-based, texture-synthesis propagation rather than a trained generative model: an artist paints or stylizes a single keyframe, and EbSynth algorithmically extends that exact style across the rest of the video sequence, frame by frame, while preserving motion. Because the technique isn't a neural network, results stay tied to whatever the artist paints on the keyframe, giving VFX artists direct control over the final look instead of accepting whatever a model generates.
EbSynth is built for VFX artists, animators, and rotoscopers doing style-transfer or painterly effects work on video, rather than casual social-video creators. The Free tier covers 720p exports in MP4, the Pro tier at $20/month unlocks 4K exports, PNG sequences, and priority processing, and a custom Studio tier adds offline, privacy-locked operation for enterprise use.
