Archetype AI builds what it calls a 'Physical AI' platform, fusing data from cameras, radar, accelerometers, microphones, and other sensors into natural-language insights about real-world environments. Brandon Barbello, Ivan Poupyrev, Leonardo Giusti, Jaime Lien, and Nick Gillian founded the Palo Alto company in 2023, all having previously worked on AI and interaction technology at Google.
The platform's foundation model, Newton, fuses multimodal, time-based sensor signals with natural language so a person can query physical spaces the way they would ask a question in a chat interface, surfacing patterns and anomalies that raw sensor dashboards would not show directly. Archetype AI calls the resulting deployments 'physical agents' and has piloted them with named customers including NTT DATA, Kajima, and the City of Bellevue.
Archetype AI targets enterprises managing physical environments — warehouses, construction sites, facilities, and city infrastructure — rather than software-only teams. The company has raised $48 million combined across seed and Series A rounds; pricing is not public and sales run through direct enterprise contact.
