ClassDojo, founded in 2011 by former teachers Sam Chaudhary and Liam Don, connects teachers, students, and families through one classroom-communication platform, and has since added Sidekick, an AI assistant powered by Claude, available free to every teacher using the platform rather than gated behind a premium tier.
Sidekick turns a 30-minute task, entering a class roster, drafting a thoughtful note home, building a standards-aligned assessment, or generating a personalized learning plan, into work finished in seconds, alongside automated behavior tracking, engagement analytics, and AI-generated parent-communication summaries built from a week of classroom data. Dojo Sparks, an AI reading coach, and Diagnostic Helper, for personalized academic insights, are rolling out on the same platform.
Core features are free for teachers, and ClassDojo Plus adds premium features for $7.99 a month. For a teacher who wants a genuinely capable AI assistant included at no cost, on a platform already used for daily classroom communication, rather than a separate paid AI tool to adopt, ClassDojo's free Sidekick assistant addresses that directly.
