Cyvl was founded in 2020 and is headquartered in Somerville, Massachusetts, building AI tools that help civil engineers and municipal agencies inspect and manage physical infrastructure. The company has raised a total of $23.74 million, including a $14 million round that closed in October 2025 led by Sentinel Global.
Vehicles fitted with Cyvl's LiDAR and 360-degree imaging sensors drive assigned routes, capturing 3D scans that AI models then process into automated condition assessments of pavement, sidewalks, and other infrastructure assets, replacing manual visual inspections. Cities can map their entire road network annually, or scale coverage up or down year to year, while keeping the same data format for tracking changes over time.
Built for municipal governments, departments of transportation, and civil engineering firms responsible for maintaining road and sidewalk networks rather than individual consumers. Cyvl prices contracts around annual network coverage rather than publishing a flat rate, so prospective customers need to request a quote based on network size and scan frequency.
