Hatch is an AI-powered infinite canvas for collaborative creation, founded in 2021 by Darrin Massena and Mike Harrington. The pair previously built Picnik, an online photo editor that reached 60 million monthly users before Google acquired it in 2010; Harrington also co-founded Valve Software before that.
The product combines AI chat with a spatial, infinite canvas, letting users brainstorm non-linearly while generating multiple images at once, building full websites, web apps, or games from prompts, and assembling presentations from documents, all inside the same collaborative space rather than separate tools stitched together.
It fits teams and individuals doing early-stage creative and product work, from marketing campaign drafts to app prototypes, who want to move between ideation and generation without switching tools. Hatch is currently free to use with full feature access during its beta period, with formal pricing plans not yet published.
