Lumana was founded in 2021 and is headquartered in Los Gatos, California, emerging from stealth mode in April 2024 after several years spent building its computer vision technology.
Its proprietary VIA-1 video intelligence model works with cameras a business already owns instead of requiring proprietary hardware, and it continually learns a site's normal patterns so it can flag genuine anomalies, an unattended bag, a break-in attempt, instead of every motion event. The company states this cuts false alerts by up to 90% compared to conventional motion-based systems, and alerts can be defined in natural language instead of pre-built rule templates.
Lumana is built for enterprises managing 20 or more camera feeds across multiple sites, including retail, logistics, and corporate campuses. Pricing is an annual license based on camera count and storage, available only by contacting sales; the company has raised $64 million total, including a $40 million Series A led by Wing Venture Capital in mid-2025.
