MCPInstall is a directory of Model Context Protocol servers. It lists servers by category and tag, accepts submissions, and adds an AI tool directory, comparisons, a chat interface and video tutorials alongside. It is free to use.
The need is real and current. MCP has become the standard way to give an assistant access to a tool, servers are appearing faster than anyone can track, and they are scattered across GitHub repositories, vendor documentation and social posts with no canonical index — so the practical question ‘is there an MCP server for this already’ has no good answer. A browsable, categorised, submittable registry is exactly the missing piece, and being free is right for something whose value is coverage.
Two cautions. Directories are only as good as their freshness, and this one carries no visible signal of when an entry was last verified — an MCP server listed but abandoned is worse than an absent one, because you find it and waste an afternoon. And there is a security dimension specific to this category that the site does not address: installing an MCP server grants it access to whatever you connect it to, so a registry that lists without vetting is a distribution channel as much as an index.
