Two design decisions address the reasons internal knowledge tools normally fail. **Live syncing with source documents** means a course stops being a snapshot that silently rots — the standard outcome is an onboarding deck describing a process changed eighteen months ago, and nobody notices until a new hire follows it. And **role-based access with permission-aware retrieval** means the answer engine cannot surface a document the asker was never allowed to read, which is the failure that gets internal AI projects shut down after the first incident. Audit logging sits alongside both.
Two things to weigh. Generating a course from documentation inherits the quality of that documentation — if the source is thin or wrong, the output is a well-structured version of thin and wrong, and the Prove metrics will then show people passing a test on it.
