X Imagine AI positions itself explicitly as an alternative to Grok Imagine, generating images and then extending specifically into cinematic video from those images, plus full text-to-video generation – a broader scope than a pure image generator. The pitch is direct: no xAI/X Premium subscription required to get Grok-Imagine-style output, on a platform that also does the video step natively.
That comparison-first marketing is unusual but not baseless here – unlike a bare brand-squat that just renames a model with no product of its own, X Imagine AI ships its own interface, its own credit and plan system, and a genuinely separate capability (image-to-cinematic-video) that the product it’s positioned against doesn’t cover in the same way. Annual plans run from $10 to $59 a month (billed yearly), scaling credit allowances from 4,000 to 33,600.
There is no free plan – “Start For Free” refers to account signup only, and actual generation requires purchased credits, with one-time pack credits expiring after a month versus twelve months on annual plans. Riding a competitor’s name in your own marketing copy is a legitimate positioning strategy, but it also means the product’s own brand recognition is still being built from zero.
