EchoFox transcribes WhatsApp voice messages. You forward the voice note to it inside WhatsApp and it returns the text along with a summary, which handles the specific irritation of receiving a four-minute ramble containing about nine seconds of information.
Living inside WhatsApp rather than in a separate app is what makes it usable. A transcription tool that requires exporting the audio, opening another product and uploading it costs more effort than listening to the message would have.
It covers more than 90 languages and has a free trial. Two things worth knowing: the audio is sent to a third-party service to be processed, which matters for anything private, and accuracy still drops with background noise and strong accents.
