MemeCam is a free web app for making memes from photos. The user uploads an image or takes one with the camera, and the app uses GPT-4o image recognition and caption generation to write the meme text. Three option buttons, labelled Top, Context and Language, sit under the upload controls. An intro dialog names the makers as Andreas Refsgaard and Frederik Lauenborg, says MemeCam exists only at memecam.io and has no apps on Google Play or the App Store, and asks visitors to donate to cover API costs.
The makers state the limits plainly. The dialog says MemeCam may occasionally generate memes that do not align with current social sensitivities and asks users to review and share responsibly. It also says images are not stored, which is the makers’ own claim, and the photo still goes to an AI model to be read, so avoid uploading pictures of other people without their agreement. Because the service runs on a donation-funded API budget, availability is not guaranteed, and the pages reviewed carry no dates, terms or contact address.
There is no paid plan. The only cost is an optional donation.
