OpenL Translate is a translation service that works on more than plain text. Users can translate pasted text, images and screenshots, PDF and Word documents, scanned PDFs, audio and whole websites, and a Chrome extension, an Edge extension and an iPhone app bring it into other places. The site lists 186 languages in its statistics, describes support for more than 100, and claims over a million monthly users, which is the company’s own figure.
It describes its translations as context-aware, so that the output reads naturally, and it has two modes: Fast, and Advanced for more precise and professional output. The higher plans add a Translate Agent for complex content and Pro OCR for better text recognition in difficult images. The site also lists AI detection on the paid tiers, along with AI grammar checks and rewrite suggestions for writing and language learning.
Free daily use is included for text, image, document and speech translation and works without an account, at up to 1,500 characters at a time. On the US pricing page, billed yearly, Starter is $8.9 a month, Pro is $9.9 a month and shown as 50 percent off, and Ultimate is $29.9 a month with unlimited advanced credits. Monthly billing costs more.
