LiveKit is an open-source framework and cloud platform for developers who build AI agents that talk, see or act in real time. The Agents framework is written for Python and Node.js, with automatic turn detection and interruption handling, and it sits on the LiveKit media server, also open source. The company says more than 300,000 developers use it and names OpenAI, Nvidia and Salesforce among customers, saying OpenAI built ChatGPT’s Advanced Voice on LiveKit Cloud.
LiveKit Cloud is where agents are deployed and scaled. It adds an inference gateway that gives access to speech-to-text, language and text-to-speech models so one session can combine them, plus telephony with phone numbers and SIP integration, agent simulations and full-stack observability of every session. Noise suppression and voice isolation are options for cleaner speech recognition. The site lists GDPR, SOC 2 Type 2 and HIPAA compliance for enterprise customers.
On the US pricing page the Build plan costs $0 a month with no credit card, Ship starts at $50 a month and adds team collaboration, custom voices and instant rollback, and Scale starts at $500 a month. Usage is priced per minute: an agent session is $0.01 a minute, with speech, language and voice models billed at their own per-minute rates, and the site advertises 1,000 free agent session minutes a month.
