Hawk AI, founded in Munich in 2018 by fintech entrepreneurs Tobias Schweiger and Wolfgang Berner, builds anti-money-laundering and counter-financial-terrorism technology for banks and payment providers, using machine learning to spot suspicious transaction patterns while cutting the false-positive rates that make legacy rules-based AML systems higher-priced to run.
The company raised $56 million in April 2025 to expand its financial-crime detection platform, growth driven by banks and PSPs looking to replace static, rules-only AML systems with models that adapt to evolving fraud patterns without constant manual rule-tuning.
Pricing is delivered as a SaaS platform with enterprise contracts scoped to transaction volume and institution size. For a bank or payment provider drowning in false-positive AML alerts from legacy rules engines, Hawk AI's adaptive detection model addresses that directly.
