Eightify is a browser extension and mobile app that generates AI summaries of YouTube videos, condensing long uploads into a set of key ideas with timestamps so a viewer can decide what's worth watching in full before committing the time. Founder Alex Kataev built the product under the legal entity Rational Expressions, Inc., launching it in 2022; the company reports more than 500,000 users worldwide.
The extension runs inside YouTube itself, generating summaries directly on the video page along with a full transcript that the company positions as more accurate than YouTube's built-in captions. Beyond the core summary, Eightify surfaces a top-comment overview so a viewer can gauge whether an audience found the video useful, and supports summaries and translation across more than 40 languages.
Eightify is aimed squarely at people who consume a high volume of video: busy professionals screening content before watching, students building notes and study aids, and content creators researching a topic before writing about it. After a seven-day free trial the service runs $5 per month or $60 per year; users can generate summaries for their own uploaded videos as well as public YouTube content.
