Cotypist is a Mac utility built by Accelerated Thought GmbH, a company founded by independent developer Daniel Gräfe in Neuried, Germany, registered in March 2025 with 25,000 euros in share capital. Gräfe also builds the time-tracking app Timing and developed Cotypist without a larger team or outside funding.
The app runs autocomplete system-wide, in Mail, Notes, documents, messages, and the prompt boxes of other AI tools, rather than inside a single editor, running language models locally on the Mac so keystrokes stay on-device instead of passing through a server. Only words a user actually accepts by pressing Tab count against the plan's word limit; ignored suggestions cost nothing.
The tool suits Mac users who write across numerous apps and want suggestion-based typing support without a cloud dependency. A Free plan covers 100 accepted words a day, Plus runs $6 a month for unlimited completions, and Pro runs $9 a month adding the full model catalog and per-app instructions, with every new install starting on a 30-day Pro trial.
