Atua is a Mac utility from DevLab Systems LLC that brings AI to whichever app is already open. A user presses a hotkey, option and space, from anywhere on the Mac, and runs a command against whatever they have selected or captured. Commands can pull in selected text, a screenshot, clipboard contents, a voice transcript or text read from the screen with OCR, and each custom command has its own hotkey, model and output mode.
It does not host a model. The user brings their own API key and picks a provider, including OpenAI, Anthropic, Groq, Mistral, DeepSeek, Ollama and LM Studio, or any service that follows the OpenAI format. Commands can act on other apps and chain several actions, and built-in system tools reach Calendar, Reminders, Notes, Finder, Shortcuts, the shell and HTTP. MCP server support connects tools such as GitHub, Postgres, Slack and the filesystem. The site says voice input runs locally on the Mac and that network requests happen only for AI calls and updates, which are the company’s own statements.
Atua is a one-time purchase: a lifetime license is $29 on the homepage, with no subscription, free updates according to the company and a 7-day money-back guarantee. No free plan or trial is named, and provider charges for the API keys are paid separately to the provider. It runs on macOS only.
