CoupleWork is a relationship-coaching app from BetterLabs AI, a company founded in 2023 by Tony Fabrikant, a former CTO at S&P Global, and Clay Cockrell, a psychotherapist with more than 25 years of clinical experience known for his walk-and-talk therapy sessions in Central Park. The app first released on December 19, 2024.
The app centers on Maxine, an AI coach that holds voice and text sessions built around two established couples-therapy frameworks, the Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy, rather than generic chatbot advice, and it retains memory across sessions so both partners do not have to re-explain context each time. Individual and joint sessions are both supported, covering communication, intimacy, conflict, and infidelity.
The app targets couples looking for accessible, ongoing relationship support between or instead of in-person therapy sessions. A single subscription at $24.95 a month covers both partners with unlimited voice and text sessions, following a 7-day free trial, with lower per-month rates on quarterly and annual billing.
