NLX builds a conversational AI platform that lets teams design and manage chat, voice, and multimodal applications without writing separate code for each channel. The company was founded in 2018 by Andrei Papancea, Vlad Papancea, and Peter Szerzo, who set out to make conversational AI development available to non-technical teams as well as engineers.
The platform's differentiator is a no-code design studio that lets non-technical staff assemble dialog flows, connect them to backend systems, and deploy the same conversation across a website chat widget, a phone line, or a mobile app. NLX charges per conversation rather than per seat: builders can create and test applications for free, then pay 5 cents for each conversation once a deployment exceeds 10,000 conversations in a month, with a one-time $20 credit included to get started.
NLX targets enterprise customer-engagement teams, contact centers, retailers, and financial services firms, that need a single conversational layer across multiple channels rather than a separate chatbot vendor for each one. The freemium structure means small teams and individual builders can prototype at no cost, while larger deployments scale through usage-based billing instead of a flat enterprise license.
