Competera was launched in 2014 by co-founders Alexandr Galkin, Andrey Mikhailov, and Alexandr Sazonov, and is now headquartered in San Mateo, California, with an office in New York. The company bootstrapped for roughly a decade before raising its first outside funding, a $3 million seed round, in 2024 to fund US expansion.
The platform pulls real-time competitor pricing and market data into a dashboard, then applies rule-based automation and machine-learning recommendation engines to suggest prices across a retailer's catalog, down to the individual store level with its newer store-level pricing assistant. Competera reports having optimized $60 billion in retailer revenue across 20 sectors, with an average lift of 6% in gross margin and 8% in revenue for its customers.
Competera is built for enterprise and mid-market retailers managing pricing across large catalogs and multiple markets, not for small independent sellers. Pricing is not published and is quoted per retailer based on catalog size and market coverage; the company serves 50+ customers across 18 countries with what it describes as a perfect customer retention record.
