Coris is a merchant-risk intelligence company founded in 2022 by Vinodh Poyyapakkam and Shyam Maddali, who spent more than 20 years combined managing small-business payment and lending risk at eBay, PayPal, WePay/JPMC, and Google. The company went through Y Combinator's Summer 2022 batch and is based in Palo Alto, California.
Coris pulls an Alternative Data API covering business licensing, website-quality signals, online reviews, incorporation records, and inspection history, then layers on Business Monitoring that watches merchants across online and offline channels to flag deterioration before it turns into a chargeback or default. The goal is catching risk signals earlier than the periodic manual reviews payment processors traditionally rely on.
Payment processors, acquirers, banks, and embedded-payments companies that onboard and manage merchant portfolios are the target customers, not individual businesses. Coris does not publish pricing and quotes deployments based on portfolio size and integration scope after a demo.
