Emmersion runs AI-scored language proficiency testing, with an individual certification for $49 that can be added to a LinkedIn profile or resume to prove language ability to employers or schools, alongside three business-facing solutions: pre-employment language screening for hiring decisions, learning and development certification for tracking employee language progress, and WebCAPE assessments for placing and tracking students by proficiency level. Founded in 2015 in Lehi, Utah, Emmersion was acquired by IXL Learning in September 2022 and now operates as Rosetta Stone’s expert testing division, giving it access to Rosetta Stone’s language-learning reach while continuing to run as a distinct testing brand.
An automated speech- and language-scoring test is a proficiency snapshot from a single assessment session, not a full picture of how someone communicates in every real-world context, so a hiring team should treat a language screening score as one input among several rather than an automatic pass or fail. As with any AI-scored spoken-language assessment, accent and pronunciation variation across dialects of the same language can affect scoring, worth asking about directly if evaluating it for a hiring pipeline.
The individual certification is a one-time $49 payment per language, including third-party certification suitable for a resume or LinkedIn profile. Business solutions, pre-employment screening, L&D certification and WebCAPE student assessments, are sold separately with a request-a-demo process rather than published self-serve pricing.
