GistReader is a read-it-later web reader. It turns any article into a clean, ad-free page, supports single pages and RSS feeds with OPML import, YouTube, Pocket integration, keyboard shortcuts and dark mode, and syncs content and preferences across phone, tablet and computer. The AI layer summarises every article automatically so the essence can be read in seconds, with the full text still one click away, and generates AI podcasts, which are audio versions of articles. AI summaries are available in English, Dutch and Mandarin Chinese, while the app interface is English only.
It is a solo project built by a software engineer named Aron Rotteveel, and the site names no AI model. Summaries compress text and can drop nuance or misstate details, so read the full article before quoting or relying on it. The privacy policy and terms are linked from the footer, and the pages reviewed do not say which AI provider processes saved articles, which matters if you save paywalled or private content.
Plans are monthly, with two months free when paying yearly. The free plan works with limited features, and a 14-day free trial needs no payment details. Bronze is $5 a month for 100 feeds, 100 summaries and 5 AI podcasts a month. Silver is $8 with unlimited feeds, 300 summaries and 10 AI podcasts. Gold is $15 with unlimited feeds and summaries, 30 AI podcasts, early access to new features and priority support. Every plan includes Pocket integration.
