LlamaChat is a macOS application for running open-source large language models locally, directly on your computer, without any cloud dependency. It supports both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs, keeping every conversation and model inference entirely on-device.
Multiple model architectures are supported, including LLaMA (Meta), Alpaca (Stanford’s 7B-parameter fine-tuned variant), and GPT4All (Nomic AI), with Vicuna listed as coming soon. Model conversion is built in for both raw PyTorch checkpoints and .ggml format files, built on open-source libraries including llama.cpp and llama.swift.
LlamaChat targets Mac users who want to run AI models privately, developers experimenting with open-source LLMs, and anyone prioritizing data privacy over cloud-based alternatives. The application is 100% free and fully open-source, distributed via direct download or Homebrew; requires macOS 13 or later.
