Privacera handles governance for data and AI together, covering data access governance, privacy compliance, security posture management and federated stewardship from one platform. Founded by the team behind Apache Ranger, it is built on open standards rather than a proprietary policy language, which matters when policies have to outlive a vendor relationship.
The GenAI governance piece is the newer and more interesting half. Once models can reach internal data, the question stops being who can query a table and becomes what a model may retrieve and surface on a given user’s behalf, which most legacy access tooling was never designed to answer.
This is enterprise infrastructure, priced and scoped accordingly. Smaller teams will find it heavier than their governance needs justify, but organisations already managing regulated data will recognise the problems it names.
