Artificial Labs builds a cloud underwriting platform for commercial and specialty insurance, using machine learning to read broker submissions, triage risk, and build contracts. David King and Johnny Bridges founded the company in 2013, and it is based in London.
The platform ingests unstructured broker documents and extracts the data underwriters need, automating steps that otherwise involve manual re-keying across legacy insurance systems. It works across the commercial and specialty insurance markets, including Lloyd's of London syndicates, and the company raised a $45 million Series B in 2025 to expand into the United States.
Insurance carriers, managing general agents, and Lloyd's market participants make up its customer base rather than individual consumers. Pricing runs through enterprise SaaS contracts negotiated per deployment, with no published rate card.
