Sixfold, founded in 2023 by Alex Schmelkin, Jane Tran, and Brian Moseley, builds AI specifically for property and casualty insurance underwriting, learning an individual carrier's book of business and risk appetite to recommend the next action on each submission rather than applying generic scoring criteria.
The company launched its AI Underwriter agent in June 2026, capable of taking cases straight through to quote-ready and bind-ready materials, and now supports insurers representing a combined $265 billion in gross written premium, including Zurich North America, Guardian, and Generali GC&C, with customers reporting processing-time improvements of 50% to 97% and hit ratios rising 15% or more.
The company raised a $30 million Series B in January 2026 led by Brewer Lane, with strategic investment from insurance software provider Guidewire, bringing total funding to more than $50 million. For a property and casualty insurer that wants underwriting recommendations trained on its own specific risk appetite rather than generic scoring, Sixfold's carrier-specific AI Underwriter addresses that directly.
