Artlist began in 2016 as a royalty-free music licensing site for independent filmmakers and has grown into a broader creative platform covering stock footage, sound effects, editing plugins, and AI generation tools. Ira Belsky, Itzik Elbaz, Eyal Raz, and Assaf Ayalon founded the company in Israel.
The AI Suite adds generative video, image, and voiceover tools on top of the existing music and footage library, running on a credit system rather than fixed per-tool limits so subscribers can allocate usage across video, image, or audio generation as needed. The company expanded through acquisitions, including the 2020 purchase of Atlanta-based Motion Array for $65 million, and now serves more than 30 million creators.
Video editors, marketers, and content creators who need licensed assets alongside generation tools are the core audience. AI Suite plans start at $13.99 per month billed annually for the entry Starter tier, with an all-in Artlist Max plan at $39.99 per month; there is no free trial as of 2026.
