CopyCat is an insurance-technology startup founded in 2024 by Abhi Balijepalli and Graham Sabin, backed by Y Combinator and a16z Scout Fund. The founders previously built Platter, a restaurant-operations startup, in 2023, and started CopyCat after running into the same repetitive browser-based data work across carrier portals.
The product has narrowed from its original general-purpose browser-automation pitch into a tool purpose-built for commercial insurance brokers: it converts carrier quote PDFs into branded proposals in about two minutes, compares quotes across carriers, and runs risk and renewal analysis without per-carrier setup. It holds SOC 2 Type II certification, a baseline enterprise buyers expect from tools that touch client data.
Commercial and personal-lines insurance brokerages are the target customer, not general businesses looking for browser automation. CopyCat does not publish pricing on its site, and prospective customers need to request a demo to get a quote.
