DB Pilot is a desktop database client that pairs a SQL editor and table explorer with inline AI assistance, letting a developer write queries from plain-English instructions, get an existing query explained, or use a “Fix with AI” action to debug an error without leaving the app. It connects directly to PostgreSQL, CockroachDB, MySQL, SQLite, chDB (local ClickHouse) and DuckDB databases, and its notebook feature mixes SQL, Python, text and interactive tables or charts in one document for iterative data exploration and reproducible analysis. Built by Maravista Software LLC, founded in 2021 and based in Vadodara, Gujarat, India, the app currently runs on Mac (both Apple silicon and Intel), with Windows and Linux support stated as coming soon. All database connections and credentials stay local to the user’s machine, with passwords stored in the device’s own keychain rather than on DB Pilot’s servers.
The AI assistant needs the user’s own API key for a provider such as OpenAI, Anthropic or Google AI to generate or fix queries, adding a separate, usage-based cost on top of DB Pilot’s own price; the assistant can see table and column names but never the actual data stored in those tables. Windows and Linux users cannot install the app yet, since only Mac builds are available today.
Free covers browsing and querying local databases, the SQL editor and table explorer, and 20 free AI assistant messages, with no credit card required. A one-time $79 purchase unlocks every premium and AI feature (using the buyer’s own API keys) in any app version released within a year of purchase, plus priority support.
