Docalysis is an AI tool from Docalysis, a startup in Mountain View, California, founded in 2023 by Jeff Pickhardt, previously a staff engineer at Palo Alto Networks and a senior engineer at Google, and a Y Combinator founder. A user uploads one or more PDFs and asks questions in a chat interface, and the AI reads the documents to answer in seconds, with support for multi-file chat so several documents can be queried together. Beyond the core chat product, Docalysis has a Batch mode, an Embed option to put the chat widget on another site, and an API for building the same document Q&A into other software.
The site’s own claim, that it saves 95% of the time spent reading documents, is a vendor estimate rather than a measured figure, and answers should still be checked against the source document before being relied on for anything important, since a language model can misread or misquote a passage. The pages reviewed do not state how long uploaded files are kept or whether they are used to improve the underlying models, so read the privacy policy before uploading confidential or regulated documents.
Free gives 5 MB files, 600 pages of uploads and 50 question credits a month, with a 150-page limit per file. Plus is $14 a month, with a 20% discount for annual billing, for 20 MB files, 3,000 pages a month, a 600-page per-file limit and 500 question credits. Ultimate is $35 a month, at the same annual discount, for 50 MB files, 8,000 pages a month, an 1,800-page per-file limit and 1,500 question credits. Business is custom-priced, with configurable limits, team administration and phone support. Each chat message uses one credit, multi-file chat is available on every plan, and files are kept if a plan is downgraded.
