Elastic calls itself the Search AI Company. Its platform is built on Elasticsearch, a distributed search and analytics engine, and adds a vector database for storing and searching embeddings, a Search AI platform for building intelligent search applications, and Agent Builder for creating context-driven AI agents. The company says about half of the Fortune 500 use it, with customers including OpenAI, PepsiCo, Goldman Sachs and T-Mobile.
Three solution areas sit on the platform. Search covers ecommerce, customer support and search-driven applications. Observability covers log analytics, infrastructure monitoring and AIOps. Security covers SIEM, XDR and threat detection with AI-driven analytics.
A 14-day cloud trial needs no credit card, and Elasticsearch can be installed for free on your own hardware from the command line. Elastic Cloud runs as a hosted deployment with resource-based pricing or as serverless with usage-based pricing, and self-managed licences are priced by node count and RAM. Elastic’s pricing page shows no dollar figures in these descriptions, so confirm current rates with the company.
