LegalOn, founded in 2017 by former corporate attorneys Nozomu Tsunoda and Masataka Ogasawara, built one of Japan's most-adopted AI contract review platforms before expanding into the US market in 2022, using attorney-built playbooks ready to use from day one rather than requiring a firm to build its own review criteria first.
That playbook-first approach scaled fast: LegalOn surpassed 10 billion yen in annual recurring revenue in October 2025, roughly $65 million, and raised a $50 million Series E led by Goldman Sachs Alternatives in July 2025, bringing total funding to $200 million, while also forming a partnership with OpenAI.
An individual plan runs $550 a month with unlimited reviews and full playbook access, while legal teams get per-seat enterprise pricing through a direct sales conversation. For a legal team that wants attorney-built playbooks ready to use immediately rather than building contract review criteria from scratch, LegalOn's pre-built approach addresses that directly.
