LingQ teaches languages through reading and listening to real material. Learners work through books, podcasts, news and videos in the language they are studying, tap words they do not know, and the app tracks that vocabulary for later review. The site says it supports more than 50 languages and has more than 5 million learners.
A section of the site headed Powered by AI describes how its AI tools extend the library. A learner can bring in content they found themselves, such as a Netflix show, a YouTube video or a song, and LingQ turns it into a lesson with a transcript, a translation and audio. The LingQ Importer browser extension for Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge sends web content into the app. The site gives no detail on which models do the transcription or translation, or on accuracy for less common languages.
Signing up is free, and a Premium membership with a free trial unlocks the full product. The pricing page sits behind a login, so no price is quoted here. Apps are available for iOS and Android, with a web version.
