Trancy adds bilingual subtitles and AI-assisted translation across YouTube, Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, TED, Coursera, Udemy and edX, alongside a browser-wide immersive web translator, a PDF translator, and vocabulary tools for building a personal word bank while watching or reading in another language. Its free tier covers bilingual subtitles, unlimited word and sentence translation, subtitle downloads and dual translation engines from Google and Microsoft. Paid tiers add AI subtitle transcription that generates subtitles for videos that have none at all, AI word definitions and grammar analysis, an AI speaking coach called AITalk with pronunciation assessment, and access to newer model engines including GPT-5-mini, Claude 4.5 Haiku and Gemini 3.0 Flash for translation. The company behind it, L2D Limited, is based in Hong Kong and founded Trancy in 2022; a single account covers the browser extension, mobile app and web-based Learning Center.
Trancy’s own pricing page rendered blank dollar figures for every paid tier in the browser session used for this review, though third-party sources report Premium starting around $3.49 a month and Premium plus Advanced AI around $8.79 a month in at least one region, so a buyer should confirm the current price for their own region and billing cycle directly before subscribing. AI-generated subtitle transcription and word definitions are a real convenience for videos without captions, but they can still misparse a sentence or mistranslate an idiom, so a serious language learner should not treat every AI-generated subtitle as authoritative.
Free is free forever, covering bilingual subtitles across major streaming and learning platforms, unlimited word and sentence translation, and unlimited subtitle downloads. Premium adds AI subtitle transcription for up to 40 videos a day, PDF bilingual translation for up to 2,000 pages a month, unlimited word and sentence collections, and the AITalk speaking coach with pronunciation assessment. Premium plus Advanced AI raises those limits to 60 videos a day and 4,000 pages a month and adds access to newer model engines including GPT-5-mini, DeepSeek V4 and Claude 4.5 Haiku, with 20 million tokens included monthly. Both paid tiers include a free trial and can be billed monthly or yearly, with a limited-time discount running through September 30 at the time of review.
