MediCodio AI is a medical coding platform from MediCodio, headquartered in San Ramon, California, with an office in Bangalore. Its CODIO AI engine reads a clinical chart, assigns and sequences ICD-10-CM, CPT and HCPCS codes, links diagnoses to procedures, and checks each code against NCCI edits, MUE limits and LCD and NCD coverage policy. Each code comes back with the passage of the note that supports it, so an audit is a lookup. Charts arrive from the EHR or practice-management system through RPA or an API. It runs in two modes: CoPilot, where AI-assisted coding is reviewed and can be overridden by a human coder, and AutoPilot, which the site describes as fully automated end-to-end coding with no human intervention. The company also sells medical coding as a service through its own certified coders, and says a 2025 acquisition of the healthcare staffing firm Mindseeker added coder capacity.
The performance figures are the vendor’s own. The site cites 98% coding accuracy across deployments since 2023 in more than 35 specialties, under 1.5 minutes per chart, turnaround under 24 hours at enterprise volume including coder review, and 60 to 70 percent lower coding cost, and it shows no method for how accuracy is measured and no independent audit. The security claims are more specific: HIPAA compliance, ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification issued in July 2024, SOC 2 Type 2 attestation and Veradigm Connect certification from October 2025. Only two customer testimonials appear, from an ambulatory surgery center and a healthcare consulting firm. Coding errors can lead to denied or incorrect claims, so AutoPilot, which removes human review, needs a compliance decision and a sampled audit on the buyer’s side, and how patient records are handled should be settled in a business associate agreement before charts are sent.
Pricing is not published and the site points to a demo request. It is aimed at United States hospitals and health systems, ambulatory surgery centers, physician groups, revenue cycle management companies and health-information-management departments.
