Slatebox generates a visual “slate” from a plain-language prompt or an uploaded PDF, producing infographics, mind maps, timelines or Prezi-style zooming pitch decks that a user can then edit freely rather than accept as a fixed export. Its AI suggests how to best visualize a given piece of content, real-time multi-cursor collaboration lets a team build on the same infinite canvas together, and a library of templates covers common formats like SWOT analyses and Venn diagrams alongside fully custom layouts. Founded in 2019 by Tim Heckel and based in Minneapolis, the company remains self-funded, and its current pricing is explicitly labeled as beta and subject to change.
Slatebox’s public gallery of presentations is visible to visitors by default, so a team working with sensitive or unannounced material should check its privacy and sharing settings before assuming a slate stays private. As with any AI-assisted layout tool, the automatically suggested visualization is a starting point that still benefits from a manual pass before presenting to a real audience.
