Spectre Camera is an iPhone app for long-exposure photography, made by Lux Optics, the team behind the Halide camera app. Its App Store description says it uses AI to help make long exposures: it can remove crowds from busy places, turn night traffic into light trails and smooth waterfalls and water. The site names auto-stabilisation, scene detection and intelligent exposure as its features, says they rely on machine-learning-based scene detection and computer-vision-aided stabilisation, and says the whole exposure can be saved as a Live Photo to replay.
The app is current. The App Store lists version 1.5.6 released on 10 September 2026, iOS 16 or later, and a 4.3 average rating from about 2,400 ratings in the US, and it was named Apple’s iPhone App of the Year in 2019. The AI is a supporting layer for an exposure workflow rather than a generative image tool, so results still depend on holding steady, the scene and the light, and the crowd-removal effect needs moving subjects and a long enough exposure.
The app is free to download. Coverage in 2023 reported that version 1.5 made the core app free and added a Spectre Pro upgrade as a one-time purchase of $4.99, and the App Store lists in-app purchases, so check current prices there. The project’s own website still carries launch-era wording about a limited-time sale.
