Stillgram is an iPhone camera app, credited to developers Marek Ekes and Adam Gronczewski, built to remove background crowds from travel and street photos. The app runs entirely offline, with every AI model processing the photo on the device itself rather than sending it to a server, and the site says the models are optimised for the iPhone’s Neural Engine for speed. A selfie mode with a stay-in-photo feature keeps the photographer visible while clearing the crowd around them, and the Pro upgrade extends that control to both the front and rear cameras.
Because processing happens entirely on the device, photos never have to leave the phone to be edited, which is a stronger privacy position than a cloud-based photo tool by design rather than by policy alone. As with any crowd-removal or background-clearing tool, the result is an edited image that can imply a location was quieter or emptier than it actually was, so a photo meant to document a place accurately, rather than as a personal keepsake, should note that editing took place. The developer credit dates to 2023, so confirm the app is still actively updated before relying on it.
The free version is limited to 1K resolution, selfie mode only, and includes a watermark. Pro removes the watermark, raises output to 4K resolution and unlocks the choose-who-stays feature on both cameras, priced at $2.99 a month or a one-time purchase of $8.99.
